Appraise This

I was watching a show with my son - it's got Bunny puppets and there is a series of short sketches and some recurring storylines.  In one recurring story, three bunnies were singing various classic kids songs.  Right in the middle of each song, a fourth bunny would pop up and shout, "Underpants!" and they would all stop singing and look at him.  Silly, but kind of hilarious...

Now, as it turns out, as underpants go, so goes the economy!  Nothing funny about that!

The word is out that the sales of men's underwear is an indicator of the economy.  I just finished reading an article on MSN Money by Michael Brush (see the link at the bottom).  According to the article there was a 12% year-long decline which leveled off February and March.  So the good news - the decline stopped.  The mediocre news - no increase yet.

I guess even Alan Greenspan (Chairman of the Federal Reserve 1987 to 2006) is looking at underwear sales.  So I'm not just spreading kooky theories and crazy talk here.  But I'm about to...

Maybe if we all just go out and buy some panties, we can turn this economy around.  Come on people!  We can do this!  Head out today and buy some underpants and by tomorrow we could see the DOW above 10,000, new home sales soar, the sun shining, angels singing...  

Or at least you will have brand new fresh underpants with springy elastic to make you feel better.
