Appraise This

NEW: It looks like running an Appraisal Management Company (AMC) will be the new Golden Ticket under the Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC).  With all the loan originators needing to go though them to order appraisals, they should be very busy very soon!

But who is running these AMC's?  I have been reading some things that I don't like the sound of...

Like the very predatory lenders who helped to bring the sky crashing down are the ones now opening AMC's.  Along with Appraisers who have had their licenses revoked.  And this is the group who will stop the lender pressure on appraisers...  Hmmm.....

HOT:  I just completed a Field Review for an AMC.  I loved it.  I think their system is great and the people I dealt with were professional and easy to work with.  The fee was slightly lower than my usual fee, but not by half as with SOME AMC's.  So, there ARE those AMC's that are and will continue to be great to work with.  I hope I can keep completing assignments for this new client - lower fee be damned!

NOT:  It's that one bad apple thing - one (kajillion) bad AMC's make even the (few) good ones look rotten...  I hope that throughout this process we are all able to keep a clear view of who is who!
